How Local Authorities contribute to the CIEH’s Annual Survey of Local Authority
Because Local Authorities use a disparate variety of systems to monitor noise enforcement activities the CIEH created this website to provide a wide range of data collection methods to cater for any system interface, either manual or automated.
The alternative methods available are as follows:
- Automatic Upload from a Local Authority System.
The authority is asked to produce a data file in either of CSV or XML format. The
formats are predefined and examples are available from the noisestats administrator - noisestats@cieh.org
- Manually input data to a Downloadable Excel Spreadsheet
The spreadsheet includes instructions, data formats and a set of reports that can be used to check the data input. It can be downloaded from the “Download Survey Forms” web page after logging in to the site. Completed forms are returned via email to the noisestats administrator - noisestats@cieh.org
- Manually input data to an On-line Database
There are a number of Web Forms that can be completed on line. These are available from the “Enter Data Through Browser” web page after logging in to the site. The forms allow the user to save incomplete data and to check the data input as input progresses.
- Manually submit reports to CIEH for processing
Guidelines and a template can be printed from the website . The Authority can either produce its own reports in the format required or complete the template provided. The template can be downloaded from the “Download Survey Forms” web page after logging in to the site. When the form is completed it can be submitted by post to the Policy Unit at CIEH.
